Hagerty Joins Plunkett Cooney’s Title Insurance Team

Plunkett Cooney recently scored a slam-dunk with the addition of senior attorney Michael J. Hagerty to the firm’s Title Insurance Practice Group.

“Adding Mike to the Title Insurance Practice Group is like adding LeBron James to your basketball team,” said Kurt E. Riedel, Plunkett Cooney’s Title Insurance Practice Group Leader. “He is extremely talented handling title insurance and real estate matters, and our clients will really benefit from his depth of experience and winning attitude.”

Prior to joining the firm, Hagerty worked for over 18 years as general counsel for Metropolitan Title Company. His previous work experience also includes 10 years as a sole practitioner specializing in real estate and title insurance and as in-house counsel for the Chicago Title Company in the company’s underwriting and escrow departments.

Hagerty, who focuses his practice exclusively in the areas of title insurance and real estate law, is a past president of the Michigan Land Title Association (MLTA). He currently serves as a member of the MLTA’s Legislative Steering Committee and served as a member of its board of directors and Legislative Committee (past chair).

Hagerty received his law degree and his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Detroit. He is a member of the Real Property Law and Probate and Trust Law sections of the State Bar of Michigan.
