Former Summer Associate Joins Plunkett Cooney
October 22, 2007A member of Plunkett Cooney’s 2006 summer associate program, Katherine Mendel recently joined the firm as an attorney of its Bloomfield Hills office.
Mendel works in the Professional Liability Practice Group, where she concentrates her practice in the areas of legal, accounting and real estate malpractice. She currently represents clients in litigation and before the Professional Standards Committee of the Michigan Association of Realtors.
“As a summer associate, Katie showed a great deal of skill and adept thinking when handling client matters,” said Robert G. Kamenec, Plunkett Cooney’s Insurance/Professional Liability Department Leader. “She shows all the qualities we look for in an attorney, and we know she will competently and professionally assist clients with their matters.”
While participating in Plunkett Cooney’s 2006 summer associate program, Mendel gained experience in the areas of appellate law and complex litigation. That same year, she completed an internship in the Detroit Immigration Court.
Mendel is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association and the Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers.
A 2007 cum laude graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Mendel received several academic awards, including the Eugene Krasicky Award for most valuable contribution to Law Review for which she served as an Assistant Editor, and a certificate of merit for advanced research and writing on the topic of workers’ compensation.
Mendel received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Saint Louis University in Missouri. While there, she participated in the school’s study abroad program in Madrid, Spain.
