Plunkett Cooney names Filbin as its newest shareholder

Patrick D. Filbin, a Professional Liability attorney in Plunkett Cooney’s Bloomfield Hills office, was recently named a shareholder of the firm.

“Patrick has been a tireless advocate for his clients,” said Anthony J. Rusciano, Chairman of Plunkett Cooney’s Board of Directors. “He’s a skilled trial attorney, and we are fortunate to have him as the newest shareholder of our firm.”  

A member of Plunkett Cooney’s Professional Liability Practice Group, Filbin concentrates his practice on the defense of attorneys and accountants in malpractice litigation. He has defended legal malpractice cases involving intellectual property, probate, bankruptcy, banking, real estate, medical malpractice and business litigation. Filbin also defends certified public accountants against claims of malpractice pertaining to tax engagements, reviews, audits and financial compilations.

Filbin joined Plunkett Cooney in 2002. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel and the Incorporated Society of Irish-American Lawyers.

Filbin received his undergraduate degree from James Madison College at Michigan State University in 1987. After graduating, he moved to Washington D.C. to work as a lobbyist and as a Legislative Assistant to U.S. Representative Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa), a member of the House Banking Committee. Filbin left Capitol Hill to attend Thomas M. Cooley Law School , where he received his law degree, cum laude, in 1992.
