Plunkett Cooney adds two attorneys to insurance practice group

BLOOMFIELD HILLS,Mich. – April 7, 2008 – Plunkett Cooney continued the expansion of its national insurance law practice with the addition of two former summer associates, Elizabeth J. Blount and Lauren B. McMillen.

A member of the firm’s Detroit office, Blount practices in the areas of insurance law and professional liability. She represents insurance companies in complex insurance coverage matters in both pre-litigation and litigation. Her coverage practice involves the defense of environmental contamination, Michigan no-fault insurance, construction defect and product liability claims.

As a Plunkett Cooney summer associate in 2006, Blount gained experience alongside members of the firm’s complex litigation and construction law practice groups. Prior to joining the firm, she interned at the Michigan Department of Civil Rights.

Blount graduated, cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2007, where she received numerous awards. She also served as a Law Review mentor and was inducted into the Justice Frank Murphy Honor Society. She received her undergraduate degree and teaching certificate from the University of Michigan in 2001.

Lauren B. McMillen, a member of the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office, practices primarily in area of insurance law. She represents insurance companies in complex insurance coverage matters, and her coverage practice includes handling environmental contamination, construction defect and product liability claims. She also has experience working in the areas of corporate law and commercial liability.

A graduate of Michigan State University College of Law in 2007, McMillen is a member of the American and Federal bar associations, the State Bar of Michigan and the Defense Research Institute. She received her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University, James Madison College, in 2004.
