Moyer, McDonough join firm’s insurance law practice group
Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms, continued the expansion of its insurance law practice with the recent additions of partner Bradford S. Moyer and attorney Emily A. McDonough.
A partner in Plunkett Cooney’s Kalamazoo Office, Moyer focuses his practice primarily in the area of insurance coverage, representing insurance providers in policy disputes, including a range of complex and multi-party property and casualty claims.
Moyer has built a successful track record litigating coverage issues involving contaminated sites, asbestos, defective products, professional liability, and errors and omissions claims, among others. He also has experience in the areas of commercial litigation, Internet law and information technology law.
In addition, Moyer has successfully handled environmental litigation, transactions, regulatory matters and permitting issues involving numerous state and federal environmental statutes. His experience also includes litigating toxic tort claims and other matters involving medical and scientific experts.
Moyer, who has earned an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell®, the leading peer review service in the legal profession, received his law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1994 where he served as executive editor of the Valparaiso University Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 1991.
Moyer is licensed to practice in Michigan, Indiana and the District of Columbia. His professional association memberships include the Kalamazoo County, Federal and American bar associations, as well as the Council on Litigation Management, the Michigan Economic Developers Association, the Michigan Association of Environmental Professionals and the Michigan Information Technology Roundtable.
Emily A. McDonough is a member of Plunkett Cooney’s Bloomfield Hills office who also practices in the area of insurance law. McDonough represents insurance companies in complex insurance coverage matters with particular emphasis on the defense of environmental contamination and product liability claims.
A member of Plunkett Cooney’s 2008 Summer Associate Program, McDonough graduated, magna cum laude, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School one year later. While attending law school, she received numerous awards, including certificates of merit for intellectual property and pretrial skills, an honors scholarship, and she was named to the dean’s list and the honor roll. McDonough also served on the board of Law Review and as a managing associate editor.
The members of Plunkett Cooney’s Insurance Law Practice Group represent national and international insurance carriers in coverage disputes and regulatory proceedings. They provide case specific legal opinions and counsel insurance professionals on new product development, risk mitigation and claims management. Members of the Insurance Practice Group have served as national and regional trial counsel for insurance carriers in landmark class actions and litigation involving breast implants, environmental issues, asbestos exposure, construction claims and pharmaceutical liability.
