John A. O'Brien

John A. O’Brien has been a partner at Plunkett Cooney since 2003 and serves as a member of the firm’s Workers’ Compensation Practice Group. While he concentrates his practice primarily in the area of workers’ compensation litigation, he is also involved in third-party litigation.

Mr. O’Brien represents a variety of self-insured, workers’ compensation funds, including the Metalworking Industries of Michigan Workers’ Compensation Self-Insured Fund, the Michigan Institute of Laundering & Dry Cleaning, the Michigan Horticulture Industries Workers’ Compensation Fund, as well as a variety of healthcare providers, hospitals, credit unions and municipalities.

Representative Client Work

• Successfully defended a large asbestos manufacturer in an 18-party death claim, involving multi-million dollar claims
• Successfully defended a high profile motor vehicle fatality claim involving a local radio personality
• In addition to numerous pre-trial settlements in workers’ compensation matters, on average, Mr. O’Brien tries 12 cases annually.
