A partner in Plunkett Cooney’s Mt. Clemens’ office, Peter W. Peacock has been practicing law since 1984, and he currently serves as a member of the firm’s Board of Directors.
His practice is concentrated in the areas of municipal law, zoning law, general liability, premises liability, product liability, personal injury, auto negligence, architect and engineer liability, family law, criminal law, and admiralty and marine law.
Mr. Peacock is a past president of the Macomb County Bar Association and a member of the State Bar of Michigan and Sault Ste. Marie Chippewa Tribal Bar Association. He is also a member of the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel, Association of Ski Defense Attorneys and Defense Research Institute.
Representative Client Work
- Represents an internationally acclaimed, Grammy and Oscar award winning musician/rapper in ongoing business and personal matters involving high profile litigation, including contract disputes, family law and other civil litigation arising from claims of alleged criminal misconduct.
- Represented an internationally acclaimed band/rap group in ongoing business and personal matters involving high profile litigation, including contract disputes and other civil actions.
- Successfully represented a Grammy Award winning artist in a pre-suit civil matter and corresponding criminal matter stemming from an alleged assault and battery, which was resolved for a mutually agreed upon amount and with no admission of guilt.
- Has represented and currently represents several sitting and former judges involved in high profile civil litigation resulting primarily from employment disputes, including allegations of sexual harassment, wrongful termination and civil rights violations.
- Successfully defended numerous dram shop liability cases, including several high exposure claims, on behalf of restaurants, casinos, bars and other establishments serving alcohol to the public.
- Provides personal counsel to several liquor establishments and members of the Michigan Licensed Beverage Association on issues related to dram shop liability, premises liability and employment issues.
- Defended various Michigan municipal police departments in excessive force, false arrest, false imprisonment, assault and battery cases in both state and federal courts
- Successfully tried many cases to a no-cause judgments in favor of the defendant clients
- Successfully defended a major casino in a $1,900,000 automobile negligence case, which resulted in a verdict of no-cause of action
- Routinely defends municipalities in cases involving premises liability, zoning matters, employment disputes and police misconduct claims
- Successfully defended internationally acclaimed entertainment artists in a variety of legal matters.
- Represents a regional casino in litigation, including premises liability claims and general legal disputes
