Stanley A. Prokop is a partner in the firm’s Detroit office and a member of the Insurance Law Practice Group. His practice is focused exclusively on insurance law litigation and coverage issues, including property damage cases, declaratory judgment actions, subrogation matters, fidelity claims and errors and omissions matters.
Mr. Prokop has earned the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (C.P.C.U.) designation, and he has published and lectured on a range of insurance issues.
Representative Client Work
- Represented numerous insurance carriers in declaratory judgment actions involving a variety of property and liability coverage’s, including coverage for environmental exposures, multi state products liability and personal and advertising claims
- Represented property insurance carriers in large commercial and residential fire, explosion and water damage cases
- Handled admiralty and marina cases involving significant liability and coverage issues
- Served as a member of the management review panel of Michigan Basic Property Insurance Association
- Successfully tried insurance coverage cases in all Michigan state and federal courts
- Authored hundreds of coverage opinions offering guidance to insurance carriers presented with insurance coverage questions
- Tried health and accident cases both under ERISA and under private policies
- Prosecuted and tried numerous subrogation cases seeking recovery on behalf of carriers in both property and liability cases
- Tried arson and fraud cases to conclusion in both federal and state courts, securing several no cause of action verdicts on behalf of property carriers
