H. William Reising joined Plunkett Cooney in 1970 and has been a partner since 1977. He is the managing partner of the firm’s Flint, Michigan office, where he concentrates his practice on litigation defense in the areas of municipal liability, general negligence, product liability and professional negligence. 

Mr. Reising is a member of the American, Michigan, Federal and Genesee County bar associations. In addition, he is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute and the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel.

Representative Client Work

  • Represented municipal entity in association with exclusionary zoning litigation involving denial of appropriate zoning for placement of mobile home park.  The claims were dismissed on motion for summary disposition, and upheld on appeal. 
  • Represented municipal entity with respect to placement of recreational vehicle park in a residential area where the zoning reclassification had been denied.  The claims were dismissed on motion for summary disposition, and upheld on appeal.
  • Represented municipal entity with respect to claims by store owner concerning signage on store, and that municipal entity had unconstitutionally deprived the store owner of adequate signage.  The municipal entity’s position was upheld, and constitutional claims were dismissed. 
  • Represented municipal entity related to claims by several different plaintiffs who asserted various constitutional and civil rights violations related to their employment with that entity as members of the fire department.  The claims were dismissed on motion for summary judgment. 
  • Represented municipal entity, and three municipal officials related to claims by former city manager that his contract had been interfered with, and that the municipal officials who were sued had conspired against him.  All claims were dismissed on motion for summary disposition.
  • Have represented numerous municipal entities, elected and appointed officials and municipal employees in litigation, which has resulted in those claims being dismissed on motion for summary disposition/summary judgment. Successful in more than 150 such motions in the past 10 years.
  • Represented a roofing company in association with a fire loss claim where the claimed damages, as verified, exceeded $6,500,000. After extensive discovery, the claims against the roofing company were resolved for $25,000.
