An attorney in the firm’s Flint Office, Rhonda R. Stowers focuses her practice in the areas of general litigation, municipal law, title insurance law, premises liability and product liability.
As part of her municipal law practice, Ms. Stowers has defended a number of municipalities on a wide range of topics, including Freedom of Information Act, Open Meetings Act, federal and state constitutions, zoning, charter amendments and revisions, ordinance drafting, and employment-related issues, and has also handled numerous misdemeanor prosecutions.
Representative Client Work
- Received numerous motions for summary disposition/summary judgment granted in major multi-plaintiff litigation involving counties, cities, townships, villages, and other municipal entities
- Drafted a motion for summary disposition resulting in the dismissal of a municipal defendant in a case involving the death of a young child in a carnival-related accident
- Represented corporate defendant who had been sued by the same plaintiff in multiple asbestos-related cases. Performed minimal discovery and used the information to convince plaintiff not only to drop all pending cases against the client, but to indemnify the client in future lawsuits
- Successfully litigated the re-platting of a subdivision against more than 50 defendants in order to protect client’s property
