An attorney in the firm’s Columbus office, David L. Van Slyke’s practice areas include general litigation, title insurance litigation and banking and finance law.
As a member of the firm’s Title Insurance Practice Group, Mr. Van Slyke’s clients include insured owners and lenders under title insurance policies and title insurance companies in escrow defalcations, coverage matters and closing protection letters. Mr. Van Slyke, as a member of the business law group, represents clients in commercial litigation, including loan workouts and due-diligence reviews. Mr. Van Slyke has also been involved in litigation involving wrongful death, fraud and white collar crime.
Mr. Van Slyke’s representation of clients has involved all phases of pleading, discovery and motion practice, trial advocacy in various state courts and briefing and argumentation in several appellate districts. Mr. Van Slyke is licensed to practice in both state and federal courts.

- Represented a current-property owner in defeat of a $375,000 mortgage foreclosure
- Represented a national manufacturer in a wrongful death defense and product liability case
- Represented national title insurance company in escrow defalcation involving commingling of funds and fraudulent loan disbursements
- Regularly represents lenders in litigation involving lien priority disputes, mortgage/lien validity, enforceability of options to purchase/rights of first refusal and mortgage fraud
- Regularly represents real property owners in litigation relating to boundary disputes, chain of title defects and adverse possession
- Represents commercial lender in foreclosure/loan workout of one-to-four unit apartment complex
- Represented regional manufactured in account dispute with supplier
- Regularly consults with and represents title insurance companies on coverage and liability issues relative to escrow/closing agent duties
