A member of the firm’s Columbus office, Al A. Mokhtari has a diverse litigation practice that includes the areas of insurance defense, personal injury, trucking and transportation, commercial litigation, insurance coverage, professional liability, premises liability and real estate law, including eminent domain, land use, zoning and landlord/tenant matters. 

Mr. Mokhtari’s previous and present clients include a wide variety of insurance companies, Fortune 500 corporations, transportation and trucking companies, major retail outlets and municipalities.

Representative Client Work

  • Tried multiple litigation matters to jury verdict.
  • Defended residential premises owners in a personal injury lawsuit alleging negligence, failure to warn and punitive damages.  After a three day trial, the jury found in favor of the premises owners.
  • Defended commercial premises owner and management company in a catastrophic injury lawsuit and two week trial involving landlord/tenant duties and an allegedly unnatural accumulation of ice and snow.
  • Defended multiple admitted-liability automobile accident lawsuits and achieved favorable jury verdicts, where proximate cause of the alleged personal injury and damages were the sole issues at trial.
  • Defended a mortgage company and its employees in a lawsuit involving non-competition agreements, where the opposing party ultimately paid thousands of dollars to settle the counterclaim and third-party claims asserted by Mr. Mokhtari.  
  • Defended various insurance companies in coverage disputes and pre-suit coverage determinations.
  • Represented thousands of clients in depositions, hearings, administrative matters and litigation.
  • Former National Counsel for a Fortune 50 corporation with respect to multistate asbestos litigation.
  • Represented a Fortune 50 corporation relating to zoning, land use, and real estate matters administratively as well as in various courts throughout Ohio.
