Practice-Specific Experience

A member of Plunkett Cooney’s Medical Liability Practice Group, Paul J. Dwaihy concentrates his practice on defending medical liability litigation. Mr. Dwaihy represents hospitals and physicians in all types of medical malpractice matters throughout the state of Michigan.

Mr. Dwaihy also has experience representing municipalities in general litigation matters, including claims involving premises liability, personal injury and employment matters.  

Representative Client Work

  • Obtained dismissal of internist in wrongful death case involving allegations of improper management of bed rails which led to asphyxiation and dealth of nursing home resident.
  • Obtained dismissal of family practitioner in wrongful death case in which the plaintiff alleged failure to diagnose lung cancer.
  • Obtained dismissal of major local hospital in wrongful death matter in which the plaintiff alleged psychiatric malpractice resulting in premature discharge from hospital and suicide.
  • Successfully represented pediatrician in state licensing investigation regarding alleged HIPAA violation. The invistigation was dropped with no action taken against the physician's license.
  • Experience defending complex, high exposure "birth trama" litigation. 
  • Obtained dismissal of municipality in premises liability matter.
