Amy L. Witt is a member of the firms Bloomfield Hills office who practices in the area of insurance coverage.
Ms. Witt represents insurance companies throughout the United States in a wide variety of complex insurance coverage disputes, including product liability, construction defects, environmental contamination, toxic torts, automotive and bad faith.
Ms. Witt also routinely counsels clients through coverage opinions arising out of claims for bodily injury and /or property damage, personal and advertising injury, rescission and fraud and misrepresentation.
Ms. Witt’s work experience includes casualty/liability defense for Fortune 100 clients, general and commercial litigation, real estate and commercial leasing. Ms Witt is licensed to practice law in Michigan and Illinois.
Representative Client Work
- Served as coverage counsel for insurer with respect to hundreds of claims alleging exposure to defective drywall
- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of insurance carrier for rescission of insurance policy due to insureds material misrepresentations on insurance application
- Defended two national insurance companies against an automotive parts supplier where the supplier allegedly discharged massive amounts of a toxic chemical into city sewers allowing the chemical to freely enter a major river. Case favorably settled for the insurers on the eve of trial.
- Represented an environmental consulting company in a breach of contract for faulty certification of engineering work performed at a landfill, and won a motion to dismiss based on lack of personal jurisdiction
- Defended insurers in coverage litigation involving property damage stemming from environmental contamination in Indiana
