For over 30 years, James R. Geroux has defended workers’ compensation claims for various insurance companies, as well as for self-insured employers.
A partner in the firm’s Detroit office, Mr. Geroux is a frequent lecturer on the topic of workers’ compensation at seminars conducted by the State Bar of Michigan, Institute of Continuing Legal Education, Michigan Self Insurers Association, American Law Firm Association, and various other groups.
Mr. Geroux is active with the State Bar of Michigan, formerly as a member of the Rules Committee and the Workers’ Compensation Section Council. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and is presently a member of the American Law Firm Association’s Workers’ Compensation Practice Group, National Steering Committee (Chairman 2004-2005).
Representative Client Work
- Counsel for Municipality on Significant Workers’ Compensation Claim, Supreme Court, establishing new burden of proof on death claims.
- Defended municipalities, companies, insurance companies, third party administrators in 750 trials.
- Defended automobile company on many major workers’ compensation claims and issureds, including coordination of benefits, psychiatric disability, cardiac disability, etc.
