It takes a lot of people to support approximately 140 attorneys across 11 offices. In addition to paralegals and legal secretaries, Plunkett Cooney has employment opportunities in the areas of information systems, marketing and business development, accounting, finance, office services and human resources.

Chief Finanical Administrative Officer (CFAO) - Bloomfield Hills, Michigan Office - (1 Position Available)

The Chief Financial & Administrative Officer (CFAO) has primary responsibility for business and non-legal aspects of the Firm. This includes responsibility for the leadership and management of the entire administrative and operations staff.

The primary objective of the CFAO is to maximize operational efficiency and cost effective delivery of service and support to the lawyers. The end goal is to deliver outstanding client service, profitability.

The CFAO will reduce and minimize the Chief Executive Officer's (CEO) involvement in the business management and day-to-day operations of the firm, allowing that person to focus on firm wide leadership and lawyer management.

Overall responsibilities extend from day-to-day business issues to longer term issues and strategic planning. Working closely with the CEO, the CFAO will actively participate in developing and implementing strategies to support the continues growth and performance of the firm and act as a change agent in the firm. This involves significant activity with the Board of Director and standing on ad hoc committees.

The CFAO will have primary responsibility and authority to lead and manage the following principal administrative functions of the firm:

  • Finance and Accounting
  • Human Resources
  • Information Systems and Services
  • Practice Development and Communications
  • Facilities and other office administration

Qualifications:

  • Ten to fifteen years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, within a professional services environment, law firm preferred.
  • Prior CFO and Controller experience preferred
  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance; CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.
