Plunkett Cooney Attorneys Named 2007 Michigan 'Super Lawyers'

Michigan Super Lawyers magazine recently named 22 attorneys from Plunkett Cooney to its 2007 list of “Super Lawyers.”

The designation is based on statewide balloting by Michigan attorneys, research conducted by Law & Politics magazine and a peer review process that encompasses 55 different practice areas. This is the second year Super Lawyers magazine has conducted a review in Michigan and those named to the list represents only five percent of the state’s licensed practitioners.

Mary Massaron, Plunkett Cooney’s Appellate Practice Group Leader, received special recognition by the magazine for the second consecutive year when she was included among the top 100 attorneys statewide and the top 50 women lawyers. In addition to being a top appellate attorney, Massaron Ross is also an accomplished author having co-edited two books on behalf of the American Bar Association addressing the concepts of governmental liability and eminent domain, respectively.

Also joining Massaron Ross on the Super Lawyers list from the firm’s Appellate Practice Group are shareholders Ernest R. Bazzana, Robert G. Kamenec and Christine D. Oldani. Each is an accomplished appellate attorney with numerous published decisions to his/her credit.

In the area of civil litigation defense, Plunkett Cooney shareholders William D. Booth, Henry B. Cooney, who is the firm’s President & CEO, and H. William Reising were acknowledged for their expertise.

The firm’s Labor and Employment Law Practice Group was also acknowledged by Michigan Super Lawyers with the inclusion of shareholders Theresa Smith Lloyd and Stanley C. Moore, III on the list. Insurance coverage specialists Charles W. Browning, Stanley A. Prokop and Mary Catherine Rentz were highlighted as Super Lawyers, as was environmental law specialist and shareholder Charles E. Dunn.

In the area of business litigation, the firm’s Chair of the Board of Directors, Anthony J. Rusciano, received Super Lawyer acknowledgement and the firm’s Medical Liability Practice Group was highlighted with the addition of shareholder D. Jerry Watters.

Also included on the Michigan Super Lawyer list were Plunkett Cooney shareholder Loretta M. Ames for their product liability expertise, Steven L. Barney in the area of professional liability, Jerome A. Galante who specializes in construction litigation, Lawrence R. Donaldson, an expert in Alternative Dispute Resolution, James C. Thomas, a well-known criminal defense attorney, Dennis J. Cowan, who is an expert in the area of zoning and land use, and James R. Geroux, an accomplished workers’ compensation attorney.
