Ashcraft newest member of ABOTA – Michigan Chapter
Plunkett Cooney partner Michael P. Ashcraft, Jr. was recently inducted as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) – Michigan Chapter.
“ABOTA is a dynamic organization with many talented trial attorneys,” said Ashcraft, who serves as co-leader of Plunkett Cooney’s Professional Liability Practice Group. “It’s a tremendous honor to have been selected, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue strengthening the reputation of our profession.”
Ashcraft is one of 112 attorneys in ABOTA’s Michigan Chapter. Membership is by invitation only. Any trial lawyer who is of high personal character and honorable reputation, and who is a member of the state bar, province, district, territory or country in which he or she practices may become a member of the organization upon nomination and election by chapter members.
Founded in 1958, ABOTA is a national association of highly experienced trial lawyers and judges, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. ABOTA membership consists of more than 7,600 plaintiff and defense lawyers and judges from 96 chapters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Ashcraft, who is the Secretary/Treasurer of Plunkett Cooney’s Board of Directors, concentrates his practice in the defense of attorneys and accountants in malpractice claims and professional disciplinary matters. In addition, he represents a wide range of other professionals, including judges, insurance brokers and agents, securities brokers and dealers, investment advisors, real estate brokers and agents, officers and directors and notaries public in many different types of complex litigation. A member of the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office, Ashcraft also counsels professional services firms on risk management, ethics, professional responsibility, and claims avoidance issues.
