An of counsel attorney in the firm’s Kalamazoo office, Keith A. Peterson is a member of Plunkett Cooney’s Banking, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Practice Group.

Mr. Peterson has over 22 years experience as in-house counsel for National City Bank. As Assistant General Counsel and Creditors’ Rights Practice Chair for the bank, he represented commercial lending and workout groups on large corporate and middle market business loans involving loan structuring, transactional documentation, troubled debt restructure, bankruptcy and litigation matters.

Mr. Peterson’s background also includes working as an attorney in private practice where he represented clients in the areas of creditors’ rights, bankruptcy and commercial litigation. After receiving his law degree, Mr. Peterson served as law clerk to the Hon. George B. Hoffman, Jr., judge of the Court of Appeals of Indiana.

An AV-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Peterson has written and lectured on contract law and negotiable instruments. From 1995 to 1997, he developed and presented on the law of negotiable instruments for the Lawyers’ Bar Review in Indiana.

  • Represented national and community banks in numerous loan workout, deed in lieu and foreclosure situations involving commercial businesses and real estate developments
