Bio

Olivia M. Paglia is a senior attorney in the firm's Bloomfield Hills office who practices primarily in the area of insurance coverage law. 

Ms. Paglia represents insurance companies in all complex coverage matters, including insurance coverage litigation.  In addition, she consults with clients regarding underwriting, claims handling, emerging coverage issues and coverage opinions.

Ms. Paglia’s coverage work includes matters relating to complex environmental contamination, automotive, trucking, construction defects, product liability, drone liability, bad faith, and personal and advertising injury.

Representative Client Work

  • Obtained dismissal of complaint on behalf of insurance carrier for claim seeking vacation of an arbitration award
  • Obtained dismissal of class action complaint on behalf of several insurance carriers for claim involving alleged failure to indemnity crop insurance claims
  • Obtained summary disposition, later affirmed on appeal, for workers’ compensation carrier relating to insurance coverage for several hundred underlying workers’ compensation claims, confirming that the claims were self-insured by the employer, and not insured by the carrier
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of insurance carrier for rescission of insurance policy due to the insureds' misrepresentations
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of insurance carrier for claim involving allegations of disparagement
  • Obtained favorable dispositive rulings on numerous issues including choice of law, lack of an “occurrence,” late notice, allocation and many others
  • Represented professional liability insurer in an insurance coverage dispute pertaining to multiple insureds involved with a physician and clinic that provided unnecessary chemotherapy and other cancer treatments to at least 550 patients
  • Provides coverage opinions and recommendations to insurers on a range of topics, including coverage for advertising injury claims, trademark infringement, vandalism, mold, pollution, defective products, automobile injuries and collisions, premises liability claims and construction defect claims
