Nathan B. Grzegorek is an associate in Plunkett Cooney's Chicago office and a member of the firm's Title Insurance Practice Group. He focuses his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, title insurance defense and real estate law.

Mr. Grzegorek's litigation practice involves the representation of lenders and property owners in complex matters, including commercial and residential foreclosures, mechanic's liens claims, quiet title actions, eviction proceedings and other claims seeking both legal and equitable relief. He also represents lenders in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings, and he has extensive experience representing victims of fraudulent wire transfer schemes.

Representative Client Work

  • Successfully confirmed the validity and enforceability of a mortgage in an action brought by a property owner who asserted claims based upon an equity skimming scheme
  • Successfully defended property owners in proceedings brought pursuant to 735 ILCS 5/2-1401, which sought to unwind the foreclosures that gave rise to the owners' title
  • Successfully settled litigation involving $2 million in secured claims while obtaining full recovery for the client
  • Argued issues of first impression in an appeal concerning the validity of service of process upon a loan servicer in lieu of the record mortgagee
  • Settled corporate dispute concerning several companies holding assets in multiple jurisdictions
  • Secured full recovery of sums misappropriated by way of fraudulent wiring instructions submitted in connection with a real estate closing
  • Successfully prosecuted eviction action against occupant asserting fraud and forgery defenses in relation to the instruments that gave rise to the client's right to possession
