Best Lawyers names Booth among its 2012 Lawyers of the Year
William D. Booth, a senior partner at Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms, was recently named by an international peer rating service as one of its 2012 “Lawyers of the Year.”
A former managing partner of Plunkett Cooney, Booth has been named by Best Lawyers as “Detroit Best Lawyers Personal Injury Litigation - Defendants Lawyer of the Year.”
"This peer recognition is a great and humbling honor," said Booth, who is a past president of the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) and the most recent recipient of its coveted Professionalism Award." I have truly enjoyed my nearly 50 years of representing our clients and working with exceptional lawyers throughout Michigan. It has been an exciting and fulfilling ride."
For more than 25 years, Best Lawyers has designated “Lawyers of the Year” in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities. Only one lawyer in each specialty in each community is honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.” In order to be nominated, the attorney had to receive high ratings in Best Lawyer surveys by earning a high level of respect among his peers for his abilities, professionalism and integrity.
Best Lawyers compiles its lists of attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current, 18th edition of The Best Lawyers in America (2012) is based on more than 3.9 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.
Booth, who joined Plunkett Cooney in 1961, focuses his practice in the areas of professional liability – architects’ and engineers’ liability, product liability and alternative dispute resolution.
Recognized as one of the most accomplished attorneys in the nation, Booth has numerous honors and awards to his credit. In particular, he has been honored by his peers for 25 consecutive years with his nomination for inclusion in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America ® for the category of personal injury litigation. Booth is also a member of numerous prestigious legal organizations, including the International Association of Defense Counsel, American College of Trial Lawyers (Fellow) and the International Society of Barristers (Fellow).
Booth graduated from the University of Detroit School of Law in 1962. He served as OCBA President in 1996-1997 and as a member of the board of directors from 1985-1997. He has held several other leadership positions within the association, including designation as an OCBA Foundation Fellow.
Established in 1913, Plunkett Cooney employs over 160 attorneys in nine Michigan cities, Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana. The firm, which provides a range of transactional and litigation services, has achieved the highest rating (AV) awarded by Martindale-Hubbell, a leading, international directory of law firms.
