A senior attorney in the firm's Bloomfield Hills office, Ellen Bartman Jannette focuses her practice in the areas of professional liability, asbestos litigation and insurance coverage.

Ms. Jannette's professional liability practice includes the defense of lawyers, real estate agents and brokers, insurance agents and brokers, accountants and other professionals in various types of complex litigation.

Additionally, Ms. Jannette has extensive experience representing insurance carriers in disputes involving professional liability, environmental contamination and construction defect. She also handles numerous asbestos and product liability cases, representing various suppliers and manufacturers.

Ms. Jannette practices in state and federal courts, as well as before state of Michigan licensing and professional agencies. She has been admitted to practice on a pro hac vice status on a number of matters pending in the federal and state courts in a number of other states.

Ms. Jannette is a past chair of Plunkett Cooney's Women's Leadership Committee and the firm's Acts of Kindness Committee. The Acts of Kindness Committee was created to spearhead the firm's award-winning charitable giving campaign in 2013 that was a key component of Plunkett Cooney's 100th anniversary celebration.

  • Briefed and argued medical malpractice and product liability appeals before the Michigan Court of Appeals and U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit
  • Defended insurers in complex coverage litigation involving underlying environmental contamination
  • Drafted coverage opinions and recommendations to insurers on complex environmental contamination, premises liability and construction defect matters
