Choices Have Consequences
Basic Employment Decisions That Could Cost Your Business
Originally Held: Nov. 24, 2020
Time: 11 a.m. to Noon
Cost: Complimentary
Program Description:
Sometimes the old adage: “Choices Have Consequences” is painfully on point.
The decisions employers and human resource professionals make each day are fraught with potential pitfalls that could result in significant legal liability and even costly litigation. That’s why the employment attorneys at Plunkett Cooney took time out to discuss with their clients and friends of the firm some of the more difficult aspects of employment law.
Attendees examined common employment law decision trees and the potential consequences for each option, including a particular focus on:
- Independent Contractor v Employee
- Exempt v Nonexempt
- Salary v Per Service & Other Compensation Plans
- Bonus v Commission
- Overtime v Comp Time Off
- Part Time v Full-Time
- PTO v Sick/Vacation Time
Who Should Attend?
This session was designed to benefit business owners and junior to intermediate human resource professionals. However, senior HR pros were also invited to join in as a refresher and to set the stage for follow up conversations with staff members in attendance.
