Plunkett Cooney names insurance attorney Pohl new shareholder

Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms, recently named insurance coverage attorney Elaine M. Pohl as its newest shareholder.

“Elaine is an outstanding attorney in the firm’s Insurance Coverage Practice Group who has demonstrated expertise in this highly technical area of practice,” said Anthony J. An attorney in the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office, Pohl focuses her practice in the areas of insurance coverage, liquor licensing and general litigation matters. Her clients include insurance companies involved in complex policy coverage disputes with policyholders and other insurance providers. Pohl represents insurance clients in disputes involving construction defects, product liability, personal and advertising injury and workers’ compensation coverage.

In addition to her insurance coverage practice, Pohl has extensive experience representing hospitality industry clients with respect to liquor licensing issues. She is also an accomplished advocate in the area of administrative law.

A cum laude graduate of Indiana University School of Law, Pohl is active in several professional organizations. She serves as a steering committee member for the Hospitality Practice Group of ALFA International, a global network of independent business law firms. She is also an active member of the American Bar Association, the DRI – The Voice of the Defense Bar – and the State Bar of Michigan for which she serves as a member of the Alcohol Beverage Practice Group and chair-elect of the Insurance and Indemnity Law Section.

The members of Plunkett Cooney’s Insurance Coverage Practice Group represent national and international insurance carriers in coverage disputes, including consulting, litigation, and regulatory proceedings. Members of this practice group have served as national and regional trial counsel for insurance carriers in breast implant, environmental, asbestos, construction, and pharmaceutical coverage litigation.
