Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms, was recently named by American Lawyer Media (ALM) as a "go-to" law firm in the area of litigation for companies among the Fortune 500.

All firms appearing on the “go-to” list must be named unprompted by Fortune 500 clients surveyed by ALM, a leading provider of legal news and publications such as Corporate Counsel and The National Law Journal. Plunkett Cooney has the distinction of being named to the top performing law firm list by national retail giant Home Depot.

Data collected from surveys about each company’s primary law firms, information that is featured in the In-House Law Departments at the Top 500 Companies featuring Go-To Law Firms^® guide, incorporates responses from general counsel at each of the top 500 companies. Survey questions included to which outside law firms the general counsel turned for assistance in (1) corporate transactions/mergers & acquisitions, (2) intellectual property, (3) labor & employment, (4) litigation, (5) securities, (6) Canada and (7) international.

Primary law firm refers to the law firms that are on the company's preferred list; the "go-to" firms for a specified practice area; firms that handled the most important cases in the previous year; firms used most often; and/or firms with the most billings from that company.
