PDFThree shareholders elected to Plunkett Cooney’s Board of Directors
Shareholders Scott K. Lites and Laurel F. McGiffert were recently elected to their first term as members of the Board of Directors of Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest ’s oldest and largest law firms.
Current board member Charles W. Browning was also re-elected to his seat during the board’s recent annual meeting. All were elected to serve three year terms.
Lites, who works in Plunkett Cooney’s Bloomfield Hills office, currently serves as chairman of the firm’s finance committee. A member of the Plunkett Cooney’s Business Law and Healthcare practice groups, he represents clients in the areas of corporate law, banking and finance, real estate and healthcare law.
Licensed to practice in Michigan and Texas , Lites is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and is a certified player agent with the National Hockey League Players Association. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Detroit School of Law.
McGiffert is a senior trial attorney in the firm’s Detroit office and a member of Plunkett Cooney’s Medical Liability Practice Group. She concentrates her practice primarily in the areas of medical liability, labor and employment law, municipal law and general litigation.
McGiffert has represented most major hospitals in the Detroit metropolitan area, and she is frequently asked to present seminars to clients, as well as healthcare and legal industry groups.
She is a graduate of Vassar College and Wayne State University Law School and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, Wolverine Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan (Ethics Committee, 1989-1993), American Bar Association and Association of Defense Trial Counsel.
The Co-Leader of Plunkett Cooney’s Insurance Law Practice Group, Charles W. Browning is known nationally as a leading insurance coverage attorney. He serves as regional coverage counsel for several major property and casualty insurance companies and advises one of the world’s largest insurance providers on new product development.
A member of the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office and a graduate from Michigan State University and the University of Detroit School of Law, Browning is admitted to practice in more than 25 states and several federal courts. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Defense Research Institute (Insurance Law Committee); International Association of Defense Counsel (Casualty Insurance Committee (Chair, 2006-present) and Reinsurance, Excess and Surplus Lines Committee); and the American Bar Association (Litigation Section and Torts and Insurance Practice Section).
