Plunkett Cooney partner Corl among Ohio ‘Super Lawyers’
Ohio Super Lawyers magazine recently named Christina L. Corl of Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms, to its 2018 list of Super Lawyers.
The designation is based on nominations by Ohio attorneys, validation of candidates by a third-party independent party and peer evaluation by practice area conducted by panelists from Thomson Reuters, which publishes Ohio Super Lawyers magazine. Those named to the list represent only five percent of the state’s licensed practitioners.
A partner in the firm’s Labor & Employment Law Practice Group, Corl focuses her litigation practice primarily on employer liability issues. She also has extensive experience in commercial litigation, Title IX claims, product liability, premises liability, professional liability and municipal law.
Corl’s clients include national retailers and corporations, governmental entities, including law enforcement personnel, and nonprofit organizations. She also has the distinction of serving as Associate General Counsel to the Board of Directors of the USA Track & Field Association and had served as Associate General Counsel to the National Fraternal Order of Police.
Additionally, Corl serves as Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. In this capacity, she represents The Ohio State University, Miami University and the University of Cincinnati in employment and Title IX disputes. Her special counsel duties extend to other state agencies, including the Ohio Department of Insurance, Department of Corrections and Secretary of State.
Corl has also received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer-review rating of AV Preeminent™, and she recently received the Most Powerful and Influential Woman Award from the Ohio Diversity Council. She is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts in Ohio and Michigan, in the state courts of Georgia and in the federal appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
A summa cum laude graduate of Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 1994, Corl graduated first in her class and received numerous academic accolades. She received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Western Michigan University in 1991.
