Chidiac, Cox join firm’s insurance, employment law groups

11.10.2020

Attorneys Danielle Chidiac and Kaitlyn M. Cox have a lot in common.

Not only did they graduate from Wayne State University Law School (Wayne Law) together, they were both members of Plunkett Cooney’s 2019 Summer Associate Program, and they recently passed the bar exam together before joining the firm.

Chidiac and Cox are also the newest members, respectively, of the Insurance Coverage and Labor and Employment Law practice groups of Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest full-service law firms.

An associate in the firm's Bloomfield Hills office, Chidiac represents leading property and casualty insurance companies in coverage litigation. Her coverage work primarily includes handling research and coverage opinions regarding general liability policy issues involving environmental, property damage and construction defect claims.

While at Wayne Law, Chidiac worked as an intern for Judge Bernard A. Friedman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and she worked as a student attorney for the school's Business and Community Law Clinic. Chidiac received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Oakland University in 2017.

Also an associate in the firm's Bloomfield Hills office, Cox focuses her practice in the area of employment law, including discrimination, retaliation and civil rights claims brought under state and federal statutes. She also provides counsel to employers regarding employment issues prior to litigation, including compliance with the Americans with Disabilities, Family and Medical Leave and Fair Labor Standards acts.

While a Wayne Law student, Cox served as Business Editor of the Journal of Law in Society and as editor-in-chief for Michigan International Lawyer. She received her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in 2016.

Plunkett Cooney has long been recognized as having one of the nation’s premier Insurance Coverage Practice Groups. This group’s insurance consulting and litigation practice involves coverage disputes and regulatory proceedings in a range of matters, including, but not limited to, claims of bad faith, toxic torts, personal and advertising injury, construction liability, reformation and rescission, professional liability and first-party property coverage.

Plunkett Cooney’s Labor and Employment attorneys provide a full range of employment-related legal services exclusively to employers, including human resources counseling, litigation defense representation, alternative dispute resolution, labor law assistance and regulatory compliance review and defense.

Established in 1913, Plunkett Cooney is a leading provider of business and litigation services to clients in the private and public sectors. The firm employs approximately 150 attorneys in seven Michigan cities, Chicago, Illinois, Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana. Plunkett Cooney has achieved the highest rating (AV) awarded by Martindale-Hubbell, a leading, international directory of law firms.
