Plunkett Cooney partner Christina L. Corl has been named among Columbus CEO magazine’s Top Lawyers for 2025. This annual recognition highlights attorneys who have earned the respect and endorsement of their peers across the legal community.
Columbus CEO and Professional Research Services (PRS) compiled this year’s list of 613 Top Lawyers in Central Ohio based on peer recommendations in 59 areas of practice. The featured attorneys, who are highlighted in a print feature in the September issue of Columbus CEO, were selected based on their reputations as leaders in the areas of legal expertise, professionalism and client service.
A member of Plunkett Cooney’s Labor & Employment Law Practice Group, Corl focuses her litigation defense practice primarily on employer liability issues. She also has extensive experience in commercial litigation, Title IX claims, product liability, premises liability, professional liability, trucking liability and municipal law.
Corl’s clients include national retailers and corporations, governmental entities, nonprofit organizations and law enforcement personnel. She also had the distinction of serving as associate general counsel to the board of directors of the USA Track & Field Association and as associate general counsel to the National Fraternal Order of Police.
Additionally, Corl serves as special counsel to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. In this capacity, she represents The Ohio State University, Miami University, Ohio University and the University of Cincinnati in employment and Title IX disputes. Her special counsel duties extend to other state agencies, including the Ohio Department of Insurance, Department of Corrections, Department of Treasury and Secretary of State.
Corl, who is a member of Plunkett Cooney’s Columbus office, has also been named as a Best Lawyers in America® for Employment Law – Management / Labor and Employment Litigation and an Ohio Super Lawyer in Civil Litigation: Defense. In addition, she received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer-review rating of AV Preeminent™ and the Most Powerful and Influential Woman Award from the Ohio Diversity Council. Corl has also been recognized as an Ambassador for Diversity and Inclusion by the Greater Columbus Community Helping Hands.
A summa cum laude graduate of Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 1994, Corl graduated first in her class and received numerous academic accolades. She received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Western Michigan University in 1991. She is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts in Ohio and Michigan, in the state courts of Georgia and in the federal appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
In January 2001, Plunkett Cooney established its office in downtown Columbus, just blocks from the state capital.
