Plunkett Cooney’s Director of Human Resources Dawn Fraczek was recently named to the Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s (MLW) 2020 class of “Unsung Legal Heroes.”

This award is reserved for the state’s most talented and dedicated legal support professionals. In this COVID-19 era, many of them went above and beyond the call of duty: working on the front lines or behind the scenes; coordinating return-to-work efforts; maintaining existing supply chains or working the phones to create new ones; or making sure attorneys and staff remained connected professionally and personally.

Fraczek, along with 10 other professionals, were profiled in a special supplement in the July 27 issue of MLW. This year’s class includes a variety of professionals, from legal assistants, to legal secretaries and firm administrators, to human resources, information technology and legal marketing.

Fraczek has been employed at Plunkett Cooney for over 31 years, starting her career at the firm as a billing clerk and then as assistant billing supervisor. Eventually, she moved over to the firm’s Human Resources Department (HR), working her way through the ranks as payroll/benefits clerk, HR generalist, staffing coordinator and currently as Director of HR.

Fraczek is an active member of the Detroit Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, where she previously served for three years on the Board of Directors as Committee Chair for Education. SHRM-CP certified, she is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, a professional association that promotes the role of HR as a profession and provides education, certification and networking to its members.
