Plunkett Cooney partner Scott K. Lites was recently named to the third annual class of Go To Lawyers in business law as determined by Michigan Lawyers Weekly (MiLW), a publication serving the state’s legal community.

Lites will be featured in a special section in the May 30 print and digital issues of MiLW. Michigan’s Go To Lawyers is a nominations-based program that recognizes the top lawyers across the state in given areas of practice.

According to MiLW, the “Go To Lawyer” designation is awarded to attorneys based on their experience, expertise and successful track records. This review includes the size and scope of litigation or transactional practices, high referral rates based on expertise and accomplishments, and creative problem solving that identifies all options for clients. Nominated lawyers are those whose colleagues would refer to a business associate, friend or use themselves in a particular field of expertise.

A member of Plunkett Cooney’s Bloomfield Hills office, Lites has over 30 years of experience representing clients in their acquisition, financing, investment, development and disposition activities. Lites is a member of the firm's Business Transactions & Planning Practice Group, and he has extensive experience in all aspects of mergers and acquisitions and real estate law. 

Lites serves as a member of Plunkett Cooney's board of directors and as chair of the firm's Finance Committee. He is also a member of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law Alumni Association board of directors.

Lites earned his undergraduate degree in 1982 from the University of Michigan and his law degree in 1985 from the University of Detroit School of Law. He has received several honors for his legal work, including selection as a Best Lawyer in America^® for corporate law and a Top Lawyer designation in real state law from DBusiness magazine.
