PDFMichigan Lawyers Weekly names McGorisk among its Go To Lawyers for negligence law
Plunkett Cooney partner Brian T. McGorisk was recently named to the 2025 Class of Go To Lawyers for Negligence Law as determined by Michigan Lawyers Weekly (MiLW).
McGorisk and the other honorees will be featured in a special section of an upcoming October edition of MiLW, a publication that covers the state’s legal community. Michigan’s Go To Lawyers is a nomination-based program that recognizes the top lawyers across the state in given areas of practice. The field of negligence law, from both the plaintiffs’ and defense side, includes medical malpractice, personal injury, premises liability and other areas where negligence causes harm.
According to MiLW, the “Go To Lawyer” designation is awarded based on each recipient’s experience, expertise and track records of success. The review includes size and scope of litigation or transactional practices, high referral rates based on expertise and accomplishments, and creative problem solving that identifies all options for clients. Nominated lawyers are those whose colleagues would refer to a business associate, friend or use themselves in a particular field of expertise.
A partner in Plunkett Cooney’s Flint office, McGorisk serves as the leader of the firm's Torts & Litigation Practice Group. During the past 35 years, he has amassed an impressive track record of wins in court, handling hundreds of cases for health-related organizations, financial institutions, retailers, realtors, product manufacturers, general contractors, trucking and transportation companies, premises owners, accountants, lawyers, surveyors and engineers either directly or through their insurance providers. These matters involved the defense of personal injury and wrongful death claims involving premises, products and construction liability.
A 1990 cum laude graduate of the Detroit College of Law, now known as Michigan State University College of Law, McGorisk is a member of the Litigation/General Liability Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the Genesee County Bar Association. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 1987.
Plunkett Cooney's Torts & Litigation Practice Group features the collective talents of attorneys who focus on the defense of all manners of civil litigation, including construction disputes, motor vehicle negligence, liquor liability, product liability, toxic torts and premises liability, including slip, trip and falls.
