Bio

Andrew J. Lorelli is an attorney in Plunkett Cooney's Business Law Department. He focuses his practice primarily in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust litigation and trust and estate administration, including decedent estates, guardianships  and conservatorships.

Mr. Lorelli has extensive legal experience in private practice, particularly in probate and estate planning. He has drafted estate plans, wills, trusts, powers of attorney and real estate deeds for a wide variety of clients, including high net worth individuals and families. Mr. Lorelli has also represented fiduciaries and interested persons in hundreds of probate proceedings. His practice includes the preparation of fiduciary accounts in trusts, decedent estates and conservatorships. In addition, Mr. Lorelli has handled contested and uncontested probate matters in dozens of counties all over the state of Michigan.

Prior to joining Plunkett Cooney, Mr. Lorelli served for four years on active duty as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he worked as a Legal Assistance Officer, Company Commander, and deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. Mr. Lorelli, who is now in the Marine Corps Reserves, also previously worked in a two-star command Staff Judge Advocate’s Office.

Representative Client Work

  • Defended an estate beneficiary against a petition to impose a constructive trust on and revoke a $600,000 distribution. The petition was denied, allowing the client to receive the inheritance.
  • Represented a personal representative in a decedent estate, successfully admitting the decedent’s last will and testament against the objection of four family members and permitting final distribution and closure of the estate
  • Drafted an estate and succession plan for a blended family with multiple large businesses and a child with military disability
  • Drafted estate plans for individuals and families of all asset levels, from simple wills to complex trust and estate planning
  • Represents fiduciaries in decedent estate, guardianship, conservatorship and trust proceedings, whether contested or uncontested
  • Represents interested persons in probate and trust proceedings to ensure proper administration and distribution of assets
  • Implements special needs trusts for disabled and elderly clients to protect inheritance and surviving spouse
