Topic Overview:
In 2010, the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor announced its new action plan, titled: "Plan, Prevent and Protect." The specific purpose of this initiative is to require employers to develop programs to ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, and more importantly, to enhance the enforcement efforts of the Department of Labor (DOL) in reme dying wage and hour violations.
Accordingly, the DOL investigators will be more present in the workplace and more aggressive in their investigation of employers' payroll and recordkeeping practices. Are you prepared if the DOL comes knocking?
The webinar will be divided into two distinct sections. The first will include a substantive update on wage and hour laws, including new DOL news, case developments, regulatory changes and administrator’s interpretations of the law. This section will bring any human resources representative or employer up-to-date on new wage and hour developments.
The second portion of the webinar will outline how to handle a DOL investigation. The topics covered in this section will include preparation and strategy determinations such as the location of the investigation, proper record keeping and document production for investigators, employee interviews, and the negotiation and settlement of potential violations.
