Consumer Financial Litigation

Overview

The members of Plunkett Cooney’s Consumer Financial Litigation Practice Group represent some of the country’s largest creditors, debt purchasers and collection agencies involved in collections and credit reporting litigation at both the state and federal levels.

These matters often involve individual and class action claims stemming from alleged violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Truth-In-Lending Act and related state statutes. Our attorneys provide defense services in federal courts across the country, as well as state courts in and around the Midwest, and provide representation in conjunction with administrative proceedings alleging unfair collection practices.

Plunkett Cooney’s successful track record and ability to aggressively defend collections and credit reporting litigation across a large geographic area are among the reasons our clients trust the firm with their matters, including multi-million dollar claims and multi-party litigation.

As members of the Association of Credit and Collections Professionals (ACA) and its Member Attorney Program, our collections experts remain informed of the latest industry, legal and legislative developments that could impact your business. Our attorneys pass along their collective knowledge through in-house seminars and legal updates as a way to add even more value to our relationships.
