Bio

Jake W. Hendricks is an attorney in the firm's Torts & Litigation and Governmental Law practice groups. He maintains a wide-ranging litigation practice that includes premises liability, general negligence and governmental law claims.

A member of the Bloomfield Hills office, Mr. Hendricks represents employers and retail clients in slip, trip and fall claims, breach of contract disputes and labor and employment law matters, including negligent hiring, retention, training and supervision issues.

Mr. Hendricks represents municipalities in both state and federal courts in governmental liability matters. His experience includes handling 4th Amendment search and seizure claims and excessive force matters under 42 U.S.C. Section 1983.

A member of the State Bar of Michigan, Mr. Hendricks graduated from Michigan State University College of Law in 2023. He earned his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Central Michigan University in 2020.

  • Negotiated settlement in breach of contract dispute, obtaining favorable settlement for client
  • Assisted with case preparation for a high-profile sewer backup matter involving a metro Detroit municipality
  • Assisted with multiple police liability cases involving alleged illegal search and seizure, excessive use of force, correctional law liability and a bite by a K-9 unit
  • Conducted depositions of plaintiffs and their spouses in asbestos liability cases
  • Assisted with labor and employment matters involving discipline issues, alleged wrongful discharge claims, contract-related issues and breach of contract disputes
  • Assisted with premises liability matters on behalf of big box and national retail stores involving slip, trip and fall claims
  • Drafted a motion to dismiss regarding a Michigan Freedom of Information Act violation
  • Successfully defended client in a business license dispute after proving the retailer had a valid license to do business
  • Drafted a pre-suit memorandum that resulted in the plaintiff’s attorney dropping four of five asbestos liability cases, including wrongful death actions, where conditions allegedly caused exposure to asbestos-containing projects
