Bio

A member of the firm's Torts & Litigation Practice Group, Sean R. Mackin focuses his practice in the areas of insurance and general negligence law. He routinely defends litigation involving first- and third-party motor vehicle, trucking, premises and product liability claims, as well as insurance coverage issues involving homeowner policies. 

In addition, Mr. Mackin has experience handling matters involving personal injuries, breach of contract, employment disputes, vicarious liability, defamation and construction defects. He has negotiated and drafted contracts and leases for corporate clients and employment agreements and policies for employers in various industries.

Mr. Mackin formerly served as Senior Assistant Attorney General for the Ohio Attorney General's Office. While there, he represented the state in criminal and civil cases involving health care fraud. He gained valuable experience with investigating and analyzing fraud perpetrated by Medicaid providers, and he managed a team of special agents investigating criminal fraud.

  • Successfully handled numerous trucking and premises liability cases
  • Obtained a judgment on the pleadings in favor of a large retail chain, relying on the shopkeeper’s privilege in a premises liability case that gained local news coverage
  • Secured a defense verdict in a multi-day jury trial in favor of a large real estate corporation in a premises liability case involving an alleged defective elevator that caused injuries to multiple occupants
  • Routinely represents insurance clients on coverage matters relating to personal auto, homeowners and commercial policies
