10.26.2012

Audrey J. Forbush, a partner in the Flint office of Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms, was recently selected as one of Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s "2012 Women in the Law."

“This award is well deserved,” said Michael S. Bogren, Plunkett Cooney’s Governmental Law Practice Group Leader. “Audrey not only represents Plunkett Cooney well in all that she does but also the greater Michigan legal community."

The honorees were recognized in a special section of Michigan Lawyers Weekly on Sept. 10 and were honored at the third annual Women in the Law luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Detroit Marriott in Troy.

A Lawyers Weekly editorial panel selected this year’s honorees, considering a number of criteria, including each nominee’s commitment to excellence in the practice of law; inspiration and accomplishment as leaders in the profession; mentorship other women; and significant contribution of time and effort to volunteerism and/or pro bono.

An experienced trial attorney in the public and private sectors, Forbush focuses her practice primarily in the area of municipal liability and has particular expertise in police liability litigation.

She also advises municipalities on employment matters, including employee discipline and discharge situations, and labor contract issues. In addition, Forbush defends physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice matters and attorneys facing legal malpractice claims.

Forbush currently serves as legal advisor to the Law Enforcement Action Forum, an organization consisting of select law enforcement executives throughout the State of Michigan. She is also a member of the Michigan Bar Association and the public corporation section of the Genesee County Bar Association, as well as the Professional / Code of Ethics and Governmental / Municipal Law Committees of the DRI – The Voice of the Defense Bar.

Forbush received her law degree, magna cum laude, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1988 and her undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University in 1984.

Plunkett Cooney’s municipal law practice is one of the most accomplished in Michigan. The firm represents numerous cities, townships, villages and public entities either directly or through their insurance providers, including the Michigan Municipal League Liability and Property Pool.

Established in 1913, Plunkett Cooney employs 160 attorneys in nine Michigan cities, Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana. The firm, which provides a range of transactional and litigation services, has achieved the highest rating (AV) awarded by Martindale-Hubbell and is listed among the U.S. News – Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms” for 2012.
