Legal publication names Boelter among its 2022 Unsung Heroes

12.01.2022

Plunkett Cooney’s Paralegal Coordinator Julie E. Boelter was recently selected as an Unsung Hero by Michigan Lawyers Weekly (MiLW), an industry publication serving the state’s legal community.

According to MiLW, Boelter, along with 24 other law firm nominated employees, was selected for consistently going above and beyond the call of duty, often unprompted and behind the scenes. This honor is reserved for the state’s most talented and dedicated legal support professionals from law firm administrators to legal assistants to paralegals.

Profiles of this year’s honorees will appear in a special digital section of the Dec. 19 issue. In addition, the honorees will be featured on the publication’s website and in a MiLW daily email alert sent to subscribers.

Boelter, who is a member of Plunkett Cooney’s Petoskey, Michigan office, has been with the firm for over 30 years. She started as a legal assistant in 1992 and, after receiving her Professional Paralegal Certification in 2006 from the National Association for Legal Support Professionals (NALS), began providing paralegal support to Plunkett Cooney attorneys practicing in a range of practice areas, including construction law matters, employment disputes, auto negligence and cases involving products, premises, professional and trucking liability.

Boelter is responsible for coordinating attorney requests for paralegal support, assisting with the recruitment of new paralegal employment candidates and reviewing the performance of current members of the paralegal staff.

Active nationally and locally for many years in the National Association for Legal Support Professionals (NALS), Boelter previously served as President of NALS of Northern Michigan for seven years. She was also a member of the organization’s Text Development Committee, which assists with publication of the organization’s “Manual for the Lawyer’s Assistant.”

Additionally, Boelter served as an adjunct instructor at North Central Michigan College (NCMC) where she taught litigation preparation and procedure.

Established in 1913, Plunkett Cooney is a leading provider of transactional and litigation services to clients in the private and public sectors. The firm employs approximately 140 attorneys in seven Michigan cities, Chicago, Illinois, Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana. Plunkett Cooney has achieved the highest rating (AV) awarded by Martindale-Hubbell, a leading, international directory of law firms.
