PDFIrvine joins firm’s governmental law group
Attorney Evan P. Irvine recently joined Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and most accomplished law firms, as a member of its Government Law Practice Group.
A member of the firm’s Grand Rapids office, Irvine concentrates his governmental law practice on the defense of municipalities and insurance company policyholders in alleged First Amendment violations, due process claims and civil rights suits brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, as well as claims involving alleged violations of the Freedom of Information Act, the Open Meetings Act and employment-related issues.
In addition to his public-sector practice, Irvine has experience handling Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Michigan Department of Civil Rights investigations, commercial and business litigation, including contract disputes, Title VII cases, Equal Pay Act claims, labor disputes and Americans with Disabilities Act matters.
Prior to graduating from Wayne State University Law School in 2025, Irvine served as the Legal Scholarship Editor of Law Review, as co-president of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association and as a team member of the Jessup International Moot Court. Irvine received his undergraduate degree, with honors, from Grand Valley State University in 2017.
Members of Plunkett Cooney’s Governmental Law Practice Group handle virtually every issue that can be brought against municipalities and municipal officials. These matters range from sewer overflows and police liability to alleged First Amendment violations and falls on public sidewalks.
Established in 1913, Plunkett Cooney is a leading provider of business law and litigation services to clients in the private and public sectors. The firm employs attorneys in seven Michigan cities, Chicago, Illinois; Columbus, Ohio; and Indianapolis, Indiana.
Plunkett Cooney has achieved the highest rating (AV) awarded by Martindale-Hubbell, a leading, international directory of law firms.
