Bio

Joshua (Josh) J. Trombley is a senior attorney in the firm's Commercial Litigation, Labor & Employment Law and Construction Law practice groups. He focuses his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, product liability, construction law and labor and employment law.

Mr. Trombley represents clients in a range of litigation matters, including product liability, commercial litigation, construction liability, insurance coverage and labor disputes. His clients include retailers, manufacturers, Limited Liability Companies (LLC), municipalities, property management companies and public school districts.

Mr. Trombley’s commercial litigation practice covers a variety of claims ranging from breach of contract actions and disputes with LLC members to statutory and common law conversion. He also has expertise in the defense of product liability claims involving national retailers and manufacturers.

Mr. Trombley’s labor and employment experience includes advising employers on the applicability of FMLA, Title VII, ADA and the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act. He has successfully defended employer-related discrimination allegations filed with the EEOC and the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. Mr. Trombley is routinely retained by employers to conduct internal investigations related to allegations of employee misconduct.

In addition, Mr. Trombley has extensive experience defending and trying cases on behalf of insurance companies in various personal injury matters throughout Michigan. He has counseled insurance companies on cases involving automobile negligence, premise liability and indemnity coverage. 

Representative Client Work

  • Drafted a successful directed verdict motion on behalf of a nationwide manufacturer on a $30 million product liability suit in Hood County, Texas
  • Successfully defended a claim to remand to state court on behalf of a nationwide manufacturer in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania
  • Successfully defended an employer on a Michigan Department of Civil Rights complaint alleging claims of race and disability discrimination
  • Retained by a Michigan school district to conduct an internal investigation related to a breach of contractual duties by a superintendent
