Crain’s Detroit names Andreou among its 2024 'Notable Women in Law'

Plunkett Cooney partner D. Jennifer Andreou was recently named by Crain’s Detroit Business among the news publication’s 2024 Notable Women in Law.

“Jenny is an outstanding trial attorney, and she is very deserving of this award,” said Jeffrey C. Gerish, the firm’s President and CEO. “Throughout her nearly 40 years in practice, she has built a reputation as a determined trial attorney who goes the extra mile for her clients. She also uses this same passion to mentor junior associates within the firm and to help those in need.” 

Andreou, along with 30 other female attorneys and judges, were selected to the 2024 class of Notable Women in Law for their work in establishing legal precedents, for relentlessly pursuing justice and for winning big cases on behalf of their clients. Honorees were also selected for their efforts to mentor the next generation of women in law and for their philanthropic endeavors. The Class of 2024 will be featured in today’s print and digital editions of Crain’s Detroit Business.

Andreou serves as the managing partner of Plunkett Cooney’s Detroit office and is a member of the Medical Litigation Practice Group. She is an aggressive and accomplished trial attorney who focuses on the defense of physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living and long-term care facilities in claims alleging medical malpractice and negligence. Her other areas of expertise include the representation of health care professionals in state investigations and licensing matters, as well as the representation of health care professionals and medical institutions in claims alleging sexual assaults.

Andreou has also been honored by Best Lawyers in America for Medical Malpractice Law since 2015, and she was named medical malpractice defense "Lawyer of the Year" in Detroit by Best Lawyers in 2022. Her other honors include being named a Michigan Super Lawyer since 2009 and a Leading Lawyer since 2015. In 2021, Michigan Lawyers Weekly named Andreou to its 2021 class of “Go To” Medical Malpractice Lawyers.

Andreou is a member of the several professional organizations, including the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel and the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates. She received her law degree, cum laude, from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1985 and her undergraduate degree, with honors, from Wayne State University in 1982.
