Andreou named among legal publication’s Go To Lawyers for medical malpractice law

09.28.2021

Plunkett Cooney partner D. Jennifer Andreou was recently named to the 2021 class of Go To Lawyers for medical malpractice law as determined by Michigan Lawyers Weekly (MiLW).

“Jenny is an outstanding trial attorney, and she is very deserving of this award,” said Thomas P. Vincent, the firm’s President and CEO. “No one has established herself more as a go-to lawyer than Jenny. She always goes above and beyond for her clients and, as the managing partner of our Detroit office, she knows how to get things done.”

Andreou will be featured, along with 14 other attorneys, in a special section that will appear in the October 25 print and digital editions of MiLW, an industry publication serving the state’s legal community. In its second year, Michigan’s Go To Lawyers is a peer-nomination program that recognizes the top lawyers across the state in a given practice area.

Attorneys are selected as a Go To Lawyer based on expertise in their field, including how well-versed they are in the nuances of the case law, statutes and regulations clients will encounter. Selection criteria also includes a successful record with cases and/or transactions, high referral rate based on expertise and accomplishments, and creative problem solving that identifies all options for clients. Nominated lawyers are those whose colleagues would refer to a friend or use themselves in that field of expertise.

Andreou serves as the Leader of Plunkett Cooney's Medical Litigation Practice Group and as the managing partner of the firm’s Detroit office. An aggressive and accomplished trial attorney, she specializes in the defense of physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living and long-term care facilities in claims alleging medical malpractice. Other areas of expertise include representation of health care professionals in state investigations and licensing matters as well as representation of health care professionals and institutions in claims alleging sexual assaults.

Andreou has also been honored as a Best Lawyers in America® for Medical Malpractice Law since 2015, and she received the Best Lawyers™ 2022 Medical Malpractice Law – Defendants Lawyer of the Year in Detroit. Andreou has been selected as a Michigan Super Lawyer in Personal Injury Defense: Medical Malpractice since 2009 and a Leading Lawyer in Medical Malpractice Defense Law by Leading Lawyers Magazine Michigan since 2015. She has also received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer review rating-AV Preeminent™. Andreou is a member of the Macomb County and Federal Bar associations, the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel and the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates.

Admitted to practice in Michigan, she received her law degree, cum laude, from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1985. Andreou, who attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison three years prior, received her undergraduate degree, with honors, from Wayne State University in 1982.

Plunkett Cooney’s Medical Litigation Practice Group members handle every type of claim that can be brought against a health care professional or provider.
