05.14.2025

Plunkett Cooney partner Scott H. Sirich was recently named to the 2025 class of Go To Lawyers for Construction Law as determined by Michigan Lawyers Weekly (MiLW).

Sirich was featured in a special section that appeared in the May 12 print edition of MiLW, an industry publication serving the state’s legal community. In its fifth year, Michigan’s Go To Lawyers is a peer-nomination program that recognizes the top lawyers across the state in a given practice area.

Attorneys are selected as a Go To Lawyer based on expertise in their field, including how well-versed they are in the nuances of case law, statutes and regulations clients will encounter. Selection criteria also include a successful record with cases and/or transactions, high referral rate based on expertise and accomplishments, and creative problem solving that identifies all options for clients. Nominated lawyers are those whose colleagues would refer to a friend or use themselves in that field of expertise.

A Plunkett Cooney partner since 2001, Sirich joined the firm a few years after graduating from Wayne State University Law School in 1992. He received two undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan in 1989.

Sirich focuses his practice in the area of construction law with particular expertise in the defense of litigation involving architect and engineer liability. He also practices in the areas of insurance law, occupational health and safety law and general commercial litigation. His clients include architectural and engineering design firms, construction managers, general contractors, subcontractors, owners and developers. In addition to the direct representation of clients, Sirich serves as approved litigation defense panel counsel for some of the nation’s leading insurance providers.

Sirich was previously named a MiLW Go To Construction Lawyer in 2023. He has also been honored as a Best Lawyers in America® for Construction Law and Litigation since 2012, and he received the Best Lawyers™ 2023 Construction Law "Lawyer of the Year" in Bloomfield Hills. Sirich has been selected as a Michigan Super Lawyer in Construction Litigation since 2009, and he has received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer review rating-AV Preeminent™.

Sirich is a member of the Real Property Law Section – Construction Committee of the State Bar of Michigan, the Forum on the Construction Industry of the American Bar Association, the Construction Law Practice Group of ALFA International, and the International Association of Defense Counsel. Locally, he served as a member of his hometown city of Birmingham, Michigan Board of Building Trades Appeals.

Plunkett Cooney’s construction law practice includes expertise in the representation of design professionals, contractors, subcontractors, developers and their insurance providers.
