A partner in the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office, Michael D. Weaver is one of Plunkett Cooney’s most accomplished trial attorneys with approximately 65 cases tried to verdict.

Mr. Weaver represents an array of commercial clients directly and through their insurance providers. His litigation practice includes such areas of product liability, general liability, insurance law, labor and employment law, Title IX claims, premises liability, motor vehicle liability, civil rights and commercial litigation.

Mr. Weaver is a sought after speaker on his areas of expertise, including trial practice, mitigating risk in business and techniques for managing high exposure and high profile litigation.

Class Action Experience

  • Successfully represented national restaurant chain in class action under the Fair Labor Standards Act involving a group of tip-credit employees from restaurants in southeast Michigan who sued because they were not paid during training and facility cleaning time
  • Defeated certification of the class in a race discrimination case brought against a nursing home/long-term care facility located in southeast Michigan by a group of the facility’s certified nursing assistants. The remaining case was then tried to a no cause.
